My Story

My Brassica research journey began in the summer of 2012 as an undergraduate with the Batley Lab at the then ARC Centre of Excellence for Integrative Legume Research at the University of Queensland (UQ). The following year, I completed my Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours) program at UQ before working as a molecular biologist at the Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad. I later pursued a Master of Science (Biotechnology) program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and in 2018, I returned to the Batley Lab to begin my PhD at the University of Western Australia. My research focused on applying multiple reference genome comparisons to identify and prioritise candidate genes for blackleg resistance. Through these experiences, I developed expertise in comparative genomics, molecular biology and data analysis, as well as skills in experimental design, data integration, and collaborative research. Having worked across both academic and industry environments, I value adaptability, problem-solving and open knowledge exchange. I am eager to contribute where I can, and to be part of the supportive and expansive scope that this group represents.
