My Story

I completed my BS (Honours) in Biotechnology from Forman Christian College & University, Pakistan. Soon after my graduation, in August 2022, I moved to Nonsan-si, South Korea, under the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). I studied the Korean language for a year at Konyang University, then moved to Busan to pursue my Master's degree at Pusan National University (PNU). While at PNU, I worked in Professor Moon Yong-Hwan's Plant Molecular Genetics Lab. My research focused on the functional characterisation of Arabidopsis transcription factors AtSMZ and AtWRKY31.

I graduated in August 2025 and arrived in Perth the following November to begin my PhD at the Batley Lab at the University of Western Australia. Under a Nufarm-funded project, my PhD research focuses on identifying and characterising novel blackleg resistance genes in canola. My goal is to contribute to SDG-2: Zero Hunger to the best of my abilities, so no one has to sleep with an empty stomach in any part of the world.
